Introduction From The Worshipful Master Of Stratfield Mortimer Lodge

 No. 8239

Welcome to the Stratfield Mortimer Website, which I hope not only the members of our lodge will view, but also other Brethren of either this province or Brethren from around the World and even people with a passing interest in Masonry, welcome.

My name is Melvyn Cook and  having been installed as Master of the Lodge in December of 2007 I am looking forward to an enjoyable year along with a very supportive set of  officers.

As my previous Master W.Bro Peter Boden expressed in his address last year we are still short of a Candidate for Initiation and along with other Lodges we are suffering from diminishing numbers at our regular meetings. If any Brother in the area wishes to visit , we will welcome them to our ceremonies and of course to the festive board, please contact our Secretary or me for times and dates.

If you have arrived at this site either by purpose, accident or just plain curiosity there is a lot of information please take the time to read the other pages. If you are someone interested in joining, our secretary or the web site for Berkshire Province will point you in the right direction.

 In a change in our normal tradition we will be having a combined Ladies Festival along with Hennerton Lodge on the 15th of February at Sindlesham, the venue, specialty band, Tom bola and a sumptuous meal is planned, all for the price of £35. Please book early as the numbers will be limited, book through myself   melvyn.c@tiscali.co.uk or W Bro Lew Hughes  derek.muffin@virgin.net

Well that’s my little piece of more or less finished so I would like to take opportunity to say a big thank you to my officers for the coming year all the Brethren of the Lodge and particularity your self for stopping by and reading this

Thank you

Melvyn Cook

Freemasonry in general and in particular Berkshire masons encourage openness. The Berkshire Masonic Centre at Sindlesham holds an open day each year where the general public are invited to come and visit. You will be able to see a Lodge room laid out for a regular Lodge meeting, see displays about the history of Freemasonry, even watch a video about the Craft. There are no closed doors, if you want you can have a guided tour of the centre and of course a cup of tea and a chat with masons who are happy to answer your questions. In addition to the tours, there are various presentations on the many aspects of Freemasonry such as our support to Charities and our work in the local community. For more information about the Provincial Grand Lodge of Berkshire and the date for the open day visit  http://provgsec@berkspgl.org.uk

If you do have any questions about Freemasonry, may I suggest you visit the United Grand Lodge of England web site at http://www.grandlodge-england.org  or go to our Freemasonry page.

On this web site you will find information about Stratfield Mortimer Lodge covering the following subjects;
